In the light of recent events related to Premier Alison Redford and the other Alberta MLA's, many folks have lately been rumbling about a potential merger of The Alberta Party with one or more other political parties ... particularly the Liberals or NDP. Well, this isn't going to happen. As my friend Connie Jensen wrote the other day, the Alberta Party is "growing from a rich mixture of widely held perspectives". She's right. Therefore, the dogma of other parties ... Liberal, NDP, and certainly Wildrose ... simply wouldn't resonate well with our principles. And, without fitting with our Principles & Guidelines, a merger with anyone doesn't make a lot of sense. There's an even bigger divide when we include a close look at our Policies and the detailed focus we have on each and every one of them.
However, there are still many good people who are uncomfortable with the dogmatic left or right that is pushed down from the hierarchies of these other parties ... but they really don't know where else they can find a home to call their own. Because the alternatives haven't been much better, this may be a reason why so many simply vote for the Same Old Stuff; or they don't bother to vote at all. And we all know that we deserve better.
And, of course, leadership matters. With Greg Clark we have proven, quality leadership: A skilled leader who understands what makes a business successful, but thinks Alberta above all else. That's his business pedigree, which helped him build one of Alberta's most successful businesses. And, as Albertans, we deserve excellent leadership ... not more of the Same Old Stuff.
I would urge all the many good people who support the Alberta PC's, Liberals, Greens and NDP to have a good look at our Principles as well as our Policies.
This is definitely not politics as usual.
